Your PDF can stay in the browser tab
A “local-first” PDF workflow means the pixels you tweak — skew, noise, watermarks — are computed on your machine. That is a different risk story from services that require an upload queue before you ever see a download link.
What changes when nothing is uploaded
When conversion runs in JavaScript on your device, the sensitive payload does not traverse a vendor’s object storage as part of the core effect. Network calls may still happen for scripts, fonts, or analytics, but the document bytes for the scan-style pass are not inherently part of that hop.
Who tends to care first
- Teams without a standardized DPA for every free utility they try.
- Individuals sending medical, financial, or identity-adjacent paperwork.
- Anyone on guest Wi‑Fi who prefers not to add another upload surface.

Local processing is not magic anonymity. CDNs, ads, and extensions exist. Use ScannedLook alongside your own policy: clear the tab on shared PCs, and treat the tool as part of your broader hygiene, not a substitute for legal advice.
ScannedLook — scan look, optional watermark, PDF metadata, all client-side.
